How to cancel Joydate, and how billing works

Cancelling Joydate takes one request to support or the chatbot, and your VIP features stay until the paid period ends. Here is what the terms say about renewals, refunds and deleting your profile.

In short

To cancel Joydate, ask the support team or the chatbot and follow the cancellation link they email you; your VIP features keep working until the paid period ends. Plans of up to six months renew until you cancel, while the 12-month plan is a single payment.

How do you cancel a Joydate subscription?

You cancel a Joydate subscription by contacting the support team or by asking the chatbot to cancel, and Joydate then emails you a link to the membership cancellation process. Follow that link to finish. The support team is there around the clock, so you can do it the moment you decide. If you paid through a third-party payment provider, that provider's own terms apply too, and questions about that payment go to them directly.

  1. Open Joydate's support page, or start a chat with the chatbot.
  2. Say that you want to cancel your subscription.
  3. Open the email Joydate sends you and follow the link to the cancellation process.
  4. Keep that email for your records.

What happens after you cancel?

After you cancel, you keep every paid feature until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then your account becomes a free Classic profile. Cancelling does not delete anything. Your profile stays visible to other members, and you can keep using Joydate for free for as long as you like. If you also want your profile and your data gone, that is a separate step on your Membership page, explained further down.

Which Joydate plans renew automatically?

Every Joydate plan shorter than a year renews automatically at the same price, on the same payment method, until you cancel it; the 12-month plan is one payment and does not renew. Joydate bills the next period only when the current one ends, never before. Discounted trials and special offers are the one case to watch: they renew at the standard price at the end of the first period unless you cancel before it ends.

Can you get a refund from Joydate?

Joydate purchases are generally final and non-refundable, with no refund or credit for a partly used period, unless the law where you live gives you a right to one. Joydate's terms name the cases where different rules apply, and any refund that is made carries an administration charge.

What Joydate's terms say about refunds
Where you liveWhat the terms say
Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, WisconsinYou can cancel without penalty before midnight of the third business day after you subscribed.
EU, EEA, UK and SwitzerlandThe terms treat Joydate as an instant-access digital product and say the 14-day cooling-off period does not apply.
EverywhereSuper Match and Boost purchases are never refunded in part, whatever is left unused.

What should you do about a charge you do not recognise?

If you see a Joydate charge you do not recognise, report it to the support team straight away, because the terms make you responsible for charges made with your account details until you tell Joydate about the unauthorised use. Change your password first, then contact support. If the payment went through a third-party payment provider, contact that provider about it as well. Keep your card details up to date in your account, since renewals use the payment method you signed up with.

How do you delete your Joydate profile and your data?

You can delete your Joydate profile at any time by following the instructions on your Membership page. You can also ask for a copy of the data Joydate holds about you: once the team has verified the request, a 24-hour download window opens in your account settings. Some records are kept for a set time after a profile is deleted, for legal reasons and to help in cases of harassment; the data retention section of the terms lists them.
