Safety

Flirt freely. Share only what you choose.

Keep it discreet

You decide what other members see, and when.

  • Safe usernames

Other members see the username you pick. Your real name and email address are never shown publicly.

What it means for you It is much harder for anyone to trace you elsewhere online.

  • Location privacy

Your profile shows your nearest town or city, never your exact address or live location.

What it means for you Members know roughly where you are, not where you live.

  • Explicit image protection

Images that may be sensitive are blurred, with a warning, until you choose to view them.

What it means for you You decide whether to look.

Know who's real

Ways to check, and to show, that a profile belongs to a real person.

  • ID verification

Verify with a government ID if you like. It is free and optional, and verified profiles carry a badge.

What it means for you The badge tells you the member has proved who they are.

  • Video verification

A live video check with a moderator confirms you are you, without sharing any documents.

What it means for you You can prove you are genuine without handing over your ID.

  • Age assurance

Ages are estimated automatically, with further checks where the law requires them.

What it means for you It helps keep under-age users off Joydate.

Read the room

How members show each other who is worth talking to.

  • Reputation score

Every member has a score built from how they behave and the feedback they get.

What it means for you You can see who others trust before you reply.

  • One-click feedback

Rate any interaction up or down with a single click.

What it means for you Respectful members stand out, and bad experiences get flagged early.

  • Off-platform contact alerts

Joydate notices when someone tries to move the chat to WhatsApp or another app, and warns you.

What it means for you A common scam move gets flagged before you switch.

Stay in control

Tools you can use the moment something feels off.

  • Instant blocking

Block anyone straight away, and they can no longer contact you or see you.

What it means for you You decide who gets to talk to you.

  • Easy reporting

Report a member, or anything they post, from inside Joydate.

What it means for you The team can act on abuse quickly.

  • Swift takedown

Ask for unauthorised or harmful content to be removed, and the team responds quickly.

What it means for you Less exposure if something of yours ends up where it shouldn't.

Looking out for you

What runs whether you notice it or not.

  • Behaviour monitoring

AI looks for unusual or suspicious activity patterns across the site.

What it means for you Scammers, bots and harmful users can be spotted early.

  • Content screening

Photos, videos and text are screened by AI and human reviewers when they are uploaded.

What it means for you Harmful content can be stopped before it reaches you.

  • Safe dating guidance

Tips and reminders inside Joydate, for chatting and for meeting in person.

What it means for you It helps you make safer choices before a first meet.

Support and standards

Real people staff Joydate's support around the clock, through chat and messaging. Payments and personal data run on PCI-compliant cloud infrastructure with full SSL encryption, and the platform Joydate runs on takes part in the Online Dating and Discovery Association's work on safety standards.

Where do you report a dating scam?

You report a dating scam in two places: to Joydate, by reporting the profile so the team can act on it, and to the official scam-reporting or police service where you live. If you have already sent money, call your bank first so it can try to stop the payment, and keep screenshots of the profile and the messages.
